Peterborough is changing in ways you can see on a normal trip into town.

But which place has changed most and has it actually improved?

There are several obvious contenders.

 Queensgate has welcomed a new Odeon cinema and further retailer arrivals as the shopping centre looks to reshape its future.

 Cathedral Square and the wider city centre are part of plans for new seating, planting, market infrastructure, toilets, play and exercise equipment, lighting and wayfinding.

Then there’s the Station Quarter. Peterborough City Council says the £47.8 million regeneration project has government backing and includes a planned City Link route between the railway station and the city centre.

Around the river, construction is under way on Cygnet Bridge, which is intended to create a more direct walking and cycling link between Fletton Quays, the Embankment and the city centre.

But a list of projects doesn’t tell us which place feels most different to the people who use it.

A new building, bridge or shop may look like progress on paper.

 What matters more is how the place actually feels to use: does the place feel busier, easier to use, more welcoming or more useful?

Or has something familiar been lost along the way?

Nostalgia can complicate the answer. A place may feel different because our own routines have changed, not only because the streets or businesses have.

Spending money on a place doesn’t automatically mean people think it has improved.

 A project can bring new activity while leaving other frustrations untouched.

So we’re asking Peterborough readers to nominate one place that has changed noticeably in the last few years.

It could be a street, neighbourhood, venue, shopping area, park or transport link.

Tell us what changed, when you noticed it and whether you think the result is better, worse or a mixture of both.

We’ll use nominations to choose examples for a follow-up, checking the changes before publication.

The most useful answers will name the place and explain the everyday difference not just say that Peterborough was better in the old days.
