The £13m Peterborough Youth Zone Is Not A Done Deal |
£410,000 has been approved for the next design stage but several big hurdles remain. |

Peterborough’s proposed Youth Zone has created plenty of argument, partly because people are talking about it as if the building has already been approved.
It has not.
The proposed overall project is around £13 million and a possible site has been identified on the Embankment close to the Lido.
A further Cabinet report is expected later in 2026 covering the proposed legal structure and finances.
Its own recent myth-busting update says that if external funding is not secured, the options would need to be reviewed.
The intended age range is eight to 19, extending to 25 for young people with disabilities or additional needs.
What would teenagers actually use? How should it work alongside existing youth clubs and organisations?
And what should Peterborough refuse to compromise on before millions are committed?
