That sounds like council paperwork. It is actually the document that helps decide where homes, roads, employment land and protected areas could sit as Peterborough grows towards 2044.

There is one detail residents should not miss.

This next consultation is different from the earlier rounds.

The council says representations at this stage will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector.

The council cannot simply rewrite this final version before submitting it.

And if you objected during an earlier consultation, that objection is not automatically carried forward.

If the issue still concerns you, you will need to make the point again at this stage if you want the Planning Inspector to consider it.

That matters for people following proposed growth around villages, housing allocations, roads, services and sites such as the alternative land west of Wittering that was consulted on earlier this year.

The plan is due to be submitted to the Secretary of State by 31 December 2026.

Most people will never read a Local Plan from cover to cover.

They do not need to.

The better approach is to find the section or site that affects the place you live, work or travel through and focus on that.
