If somebody tells you nothing happens in Peterborough, this week is a difficult week for them to make the case.

Peterborough Beer Festival runs from Tuesday 25 August to Saturday 29 August on the Embankment behind the Key Theatre.

CAMRA lists the festival at Embankment Road, PE1 1EF, and it remains one of the city’s most recognisable annual events.

The interesting thing about the Beer Festival has never been only the beer.

It is one of those Peterborough events where half the appeal is repeatedly bumping into people you were not expecting to see.

It might be a former colleague or a eighbour from three houses ago. Or a person that you only ever see when you attend the beer festival.

Somebody who says “I’m only staying for one” with the confidence of a person who has learned nothing from previous years.

This year it also lands while major works are taking place around the Embankment, including Cygnet Bridge.

The council has previously said the works were planned so major events including the Beer Festival could still go ahead.

If you are going, check the festival’s current travel and entry information before setting off rather than relying on what happened last year.

And now the important Peterborough argument when it comes to the festival:

Are you a “find something new” person, or do you locate the same drink you liked last year and refuse all further experimentation?

Also of course like every other year it's not just about the beer its also about the stalls, the bands and just having a good time.

If you have never been or you are a regular tell us your experience and what you enjoyed most.
