Most of us have a takeaway we barely need to think about.

The one saved in the phone. The one everyone agrees on when nobody can be bothered to cook.

The one where somebody says, “Shall we just get the usual?” and five minutes later the order is in.

So which Peterborough takeaway has the most loyal customers?

We found three names with a decent claim for three quite different reasons.

Netherton Fisheries on Ledbury Road has perhaps the strongest evidence of customers actually getting behind it. The shop says its customers voted it Peterborough Telegraph Fish & Chip Shop of the Year in 2020.

Yes, 2020 was a while ago. But people don't normally go to the trouble of voting for a chippy they feel completely indifferent about

Turkish Grill Werrington, on Storrington Way, is the newer contender. It opened in December 2023 and was highly commended in the 2025 British Kebab Awards' Best Regional Takeaway category.

It has also cropped up in local recommendations from people who say it has become a repeat order at home.

That's not enough to declare it Peterborough's favourite but it is exactly the sort of thing we're looking for.

A takeaway becoming part of somebody's normal routine tells you more than a one-off “nice meal” review.

Then there’s Fishy Business.

It has been around since 2002, which gives it something the newer businesses simply cannot manufacture: years of people coming back.

Longevity doesn't automatically mean best, of course.

Sometimes a takeaway wins because the food is brilliant.

 Sometimes it's because they know your order before you've finished saying your postcode.

Sometimes the portions are huge, delivery is quick, the prices still feel fair or the chips are exactly how you like them.

And that's why this is more interesting than another “Top 10 Peterborough Takeaways” list based on star ratings.

We're interested in the places people are genuinely loyal to.

The takeaway where you've tried somewhere else and gone straight back the following week.

The curry house you recommend every time someone moves into the area.

The kebab shop your family has been ordering from for years.

The chippy where changing your Friday-night order would practically cause an argument.

So our starting three are Netherton Fisheries, Turkish Grill Werrington and Fishy Business.

But we'd be amazed if Peterborough readers let us stop there.
